22 Oct Accidental Green Icing
While attempting to achieve an antique yellow shade of royal icing, I managed to create a pale green instead. Initially, the instructions said to first make your icing a “golden yellow” as seen below.
Then, I was to add a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of leaf green. This is where I went wrong. I added waaaaaay too much and ended up with this sickly green color:
The lesson here is that you can always add more dye but you cannot take it away. In order to fix my mistake, I added some white icing and a dab of orange and I ended up with the shade that I was looking for. You can see the yellow icing being used in my saxophone cookies.
